Jammin To Jamaica 2011


Shawna Lee Campbell will be attending and speaking at George Brown College's 2011 Jammin to Jamaica fundraiser event. The event is to raise funds for The 2012 Jamaica Project , an international development/study abroad program started by Lynn Wilson and facilitated by Colette Kane.

Alongside Sonya Wilson, Sara King, Danielle Robinson and Stephany Molina, Shawna will be speaking about her experiences participating in the program this past January.

Shawna Lee Campbell presented her video "The Arctic Series" at George Brown College. She presented for the Technology and Education class within the third year Early Childhood Leadership program. The video workshop consists of the video presentation and is followed by a brief instructional "how-to".

HANG ART. LIFT HEARTS



These paintings of a "Giant Tortoise" and an "African Elephant" by Shawna Lee Campbell have been chosen to participate in the online sale portion of Curry's Hang Art Lift Hearts Auction in support of Dystonia Medical Research Foundation of Canada.





The sale will be active in the last week of September and will continue until the end of December.

About a Boy



Shawna Lee's poem "About a Boy" has been selected by The Poetry Institute of Canada to be published in their next Anthology of Verse entitled "Fire and Light".

"Fire and Light" will be a fine quality, hardbound deluxe volume of the best of today's poetry. It is scheduled to be published in January 2012.

by Shawna Lee Campbell, another memoir from her adventures in China, has been selected for publication by The Poetry Institute of Canada. It will be included in an anthology of short stories entitled "From Across The River".

George Brown College Graduate


Shawna Lee Campbell is now an Alumni of George Brown College.

During her time at George Brown College, Shawna Lee participated in an international study abroad program/ development iniatiave: The Jamaica Project.

She participated in several volunteer activities at the college and participated in The Student Leadership Academy.

Shawna Lee also earned academic distinction by making The Dean's Honour List.


She graduated from the Early Childhood Education program this past Spring 2011.

She is officially registered with The Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.

“The Doctorbird” by Shawna Lee Campbell, is an acrylic painting of the national bird of Jamaica.


In January 2011, on behalf of George Brown College, Shawna Lee presented Shortwood Teacher’s College with this original painting, to commemorate the past ten years of mutual effort and success in regards to The Jamaica Project.



“The Doctorbird” will be displayed at Shortwood’s Teacher College in Kingston, Jamaica, as a gift from all past and present participants, and representing faculty of The Jamaica Project.
